R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Lorraine Tatarevich has devoted 36 years to serving her community as a school board member, teacher, and city council member, and as she concludes her distinguished tenure with the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District Board of Trustees it is indeed appropriate to recognize her outstanding record of service; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Tatarevich was first elected to the school board in 1967, and her contributions to the district helped to meet the demands of the area's rapid population growth; during her first tenure with the board, the district added 16 campuses and administrative facilities, while providing excellent educational opportunities for the district's students; and WHEREAS, After eight years on the board, Mrs. Tatarevich ventured into a new service arena, becoming a teacher at Trinity High School, and for 19 years she shared her extensive business and entrepreneurial experience as a teacher of vocational education courses; during this time she also served her fellow citizens as a member of the Hurst City Council; and WHEREAS, In 1994, this remarkable woman began her second tenure with the school board, and in the nine years since that time she has accepted and met numerous new challenges, including finding quality replacements for retiring teachers and overseeing the renovation and replacement of aging facilities; she has also played a role in enhancing the high-tech capabilities in the district's schools and implementing the Schools of Choice and International Baccalaureate programs; and WHEREAS, During her years with the H-E-B ISD Board of Trustees, Mrs. Tatarevich has established a reputation for putting students and teachers first, and her legacy of excellence with this exceptional school district will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to Lorraine Tatarevich for her service to the citizens of Hurst-Euless-Bedford and extend to her best wishes as she concludes her service on the H-E-B ISD Board of Trustees; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Tatarevich as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
