H.R. No. 1286
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Honorable John Murphy recently concluded
distinguished terms as mayor and city councilman of the City of
Bedford, and his dedication to serving his fellow citizens as a
public official is truly worthy of special recognition; and
WHEREAS, A respected businessman in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford
area, Mr. Murphy is owner of a Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream store; he
has given generously of his time and resources to assist civic
organizations and promote economic development; and
WHEREAS, A democratic form of government depends on the
informed participation of its people, and foremost among the
system's participants are those committed individuals such as Mr.
Murphy who have taken on the role of public servant; and
WHEREAS, Public officials must take on the difficult
challenge of balancing the needs of their constituents with the
best use of available resources; in his tenure on the Bedford city
council, Mr. Murphy has helped sustain the proud tradition of
citizen leadership that has been our nation's trademark for more
than two centuries, and he can take justifiable pride in the role he
has played in this noble legacy; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby commend the Honorable John Murphy on his many
accomplishments as councilman and mayor of the City of Bedford and
extend to him best wishes for success and happiness in his future
endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Murphy as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
