R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Texas A&M University has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to serving the people of South Texas with the opening in November 2002 of its Lower Rio Grande Valley Prospective Student Center; and WHEREAS, Located within the Texas A&M University Agricultural Research and Extension Center, the new office provides not only prospective freshman but also transfer, graduate, and international students with information on admissions criteria, academic programs, financial aid, housing, scholarships, student services, and other areas of interest; and WHEREAS, The center is a satellite office of the Prospective Student Center on the university's main campus in College Station and is intended to provide information to the young men and women of the Lower Rio Grande Valley, regardless of their intended area of study; and WHEREAS, A college education is often the foundation on which a successful career is built, and Texas A&M is to be commended for its efforts to bring such an education within the reach of students in every part of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate all those associated with the new Lower Rio Grande Valley Prospective Student Center on the office's grand opening and extend to them sincere best wishes for much success in the years to come.
