R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On May 21, 2003, 15 Texans are graduating from the Greater Southwest Houston Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Class, and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to honor these civic-minded men and women; and WHEREAS, Over the course of nine months, this exemplary program challenges its participants to increase their knowledge of vital public issues and includes visits with professionals in the fields of criminal justice, education, media, cultural arts, and economic development as well as various elected officials; and WHEREAS, This year's class, Leadership Class XI, is composed of 15 individuals who represent an interesting array of backgrounds and disciplines, and they include: Mark Barber, Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club; Michael Bast, ChevronTexaco; Allison Bech, Bracewell & Patterson, LLP; Joseph Darby, ChevronTexaco; Peggy Faulk, Harris County; Trina Fowlkes, South Trust Bank; Judy Herschberger, Bank of Texas; Lori Hood, Baker & McKenzie; Matthew Hunter, ConocoPhillips; Chris Jesse, I Have a Dream--Houston; Tony Ponce De Leon, Ponce De Leon Insurance Agency; Yolanda Slade, CenterPoint Energy; Janet Stevenson, Texas Baptist Family Services of Houston; Stacey Waggoner, ConocoPhillips; and Robert Ward, ChevronTexaco; and WHEREAS, Endeavoring to build a more informed and involved citizenry and to develop new leaders, this invaluable program, and all those associated with it, are helping to build a brighter and more promising future for the Lone Star State, and they are truly deserving of special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby recognize the graduates of the Greater Southwest Houston Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Class XI and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the participants as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
