R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, African American Leadership Institute Chairman Art A. Hall of San Antonio is being recognized for his service to the community on May 31, 2003, with a special certificate of appreciation; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hall traveled widely for his education, receiving his bachelor of arts degree from Harvard University and his J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Texas Tech University; he also attended the University of Wales at Aberystwyth in the United Kingdom and earned his international master of laws degree; and WHEREAS, The work experiences of this attorney and banker are as distinguished as his education; he has interned for Senator Edward Kennedy, Governor William Weld, and Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice Thomas Phillips; Mr. Hall has taught at La Universidad Espiritu Santo in Ecuador, at St. Mary's Law School in San Antonio, and at The University of Texas at San Antonio; furthermore, he has served with distinction as vice president and general counsel for Southwestern Capital Markets, Inc.; and WHEREAS, Despite his demanding schedule and many professional obligations, Mr. Hall has found time to contribute to the betterment of the community through his work with Citizens Watershed Master Plan Committee, SAWS Community Conservation Committee, Witte Museum, and Carver Community Cultural Center; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hall has also lent his experience and leadership ability to benefit the YMCA, the Alamo City Chamber of Commerce, and Leadership San Antonio XXVII; named by the San Antonio Business Journal as one of San Antonio's 1999 "Rising Stars Top 40 Under 40," Mr. Hall is an Eagle Scout who has selflessly volunteered to help young people to succeed by participating in the Northside Independent School District's Gifted and Talented Mentorship Program; and WHEREAS, Through his hard work and dedication, Mr. Hall has earned the respect and admiration of his fellow Texans, and he is both a source of great pride to the community and a sterling example for others to follow; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby honor Art A. Hall for his service to the San Antonio area and extend to him warmest best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Hall as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
