H.R. No. 1348
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, This year marked the conclusion of a distinguished
tenure as justice of the peace for Precinct 2 in Terrell County for
Edelmira C. Calzada, and her retirement after more than 20 years of
service truly merits special recognition; and
WHEREAS, Judge Calzada took office on January 1, 1980, and
has served continuously for the past 22 years; over the course of
her tenure, her diligence, common sense, and commitment to fairness
have won her the trust and respect of the community, which deeply
appreciates her exemplary service; and
WHEREAS, This civic-minded woman provided many of her
services free of charge, helped her constituents to find programs
to assist in their special needs, and often served as a translator
for Spanish speakers in her precinct; she was dedicated to helping
others, and her efforts positively affected the lives of countless
people in her area; and
WHEREAS, In discharging the duties of justice of the peace,
this notable Texan can take great satisfaction in the help that she
has provided over the years; she has truly epitomized the integrity
and devotion to duty that distinguish the state's outstanding
public officials; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby recognize Edelmira C. Calzada on her notable
record as a justice of the peace in Terrell County and extend to her
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Judge Calzada as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
