R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Gary Turberville will bring to a close his distinguished career in education when he retires from W. B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi at the end of the 2003 school year; and WHEREAS, A positive role model for young men and women aspiring to achieve professional excellence, Mr. Turberville earned his bachelor of science and history degree at Texas Lutheran College in 1968; two years later, he received his Texas Teacher Certificate of Education from the University of Corpus Christi; and WHEREAS, Mr. Turberville has made numerous important contributions to the field of education and athletic development; notably, Mr. Turberville helped to inaugurate the annual Bill Stages Memorial Golf Tournament, reigniting the flame of the Fighting Texan tradition, and he aided in the establishment of the annual W. B. Ray Athletic Hall of Fame; and WHEREAS, Demonstrating the highest standards of education, discipline, and athletic achievement, Mr. Turberville has positively influenced the lives of countless young Texans; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Gary Turberville on his retirement from W. B. Ray High School and extend to him best wishes for a future filled with much happiness and success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Turberville as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
