R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Luke Beckett Marchant celebrated a significant milestone in his life on May 18, 2003, for on that day, he graduated from Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma, with a degree in political science; and WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. Marchant was born in Dallas on June 27, 1980, to Donna and Kenny Marchant; he graduated from Carrollton Christian Academy in 1999; and WHEREAS, During his college years, this exceptional young man was active with the student newspaper, the Reveille Echo, as a valued member of its staff; he was elected as the president of the College Republicans during his freshman year and served two years in the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature; and WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Marchant traveled to England and Scotland in the summer of 2001 as a Youth-in-Mission ambassador and garnered a wealth of experience as an intern with the Oklahoma Legislature, American Electric Power, and the Natural Resources Committee of the Texas Senate; and WHEREAS, Luke Beckett Marchant is an impressive young man who has demonstrated exemplary commitment in attaining his college degree; his dedication, enthusiasm, and perseverance typify the finest qualities of this nation's young people, and he is most deserving of commendation for his outstanding accomplishment; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Luke Beckett Marchant on his graduation from Southern Nazarene University and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Marchant as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
