                                                                  H.R. No. 1367



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, In conjunction with National Small Business Week, 
the Comal County Commissioners Court named Anne and Doug Miller as 
Comal County's Small Business Persons of the Year for 2003, and this 
honor is truly well-deserved; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Miller embarked on a career in the insurance 
industry in 1984 and took over his partner's interest in the agency 
in 2000, at which time Mrs. Miller became an active partner in the 
company, which was renamed Miller & Miller Insurance Agency; 
together, they have achieved success by emphasizing teamwork with 
coworkers and by tailoring their product to the customer's needs; 
and
	WHEREAS, Creators and founders of the New Braunfels ISD 
Education Foundation, the Millers also contribute to their 
community by participating in such organizations as the Greater New 
Braunfels Chamber of Commerce and Leadership New Braunfels; both 
have worked to ensure a brighter future for their fellow citizens 
through their public service, Mr. Miller as mayor and a city council 
member, and Mrs. Miller as a member of the New Braunfels ISD board 
of trustees; and
	WHEREAS, Small businesses continue to play a significant role 
in the economic vitality of the Lone Star State, and the 
contributions of Miller & Miller Insurance Agency in this regard 
make its owners indeed worthy of special legislative recognition at 
this time; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Doug and Anne Miller on being named 
2003 Comal County Small Business Persons of the Year and extend to 
them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Miller as an expression of high regard by 
the Texas House of Representatives.
