R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary is truly cause for celebration, and in June 2003, Karl and Ramona Whisennand of The Woodlands are marking this milestone in their marriage; and WHEREAS, Over the course of five decades, Mr. and Mrs. Whisennand have enjoyed a happy and fulfilling relationship that serves as an inspiration to their close-knit circle of loved ones; they have been blessed with a fine family, including three children, Jeff and Mitch Whisennand and Beth Whisennand Beethe; three grandchildren, Jason Whisennand, Jessica Whisennand Beethe, and Matthew Weidenheft; and two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Phoenix Whisennand; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Whisennand has been a dedicated homemaker throughout her marriage and, with her husband, is a founding member of Bammel Road Church of Christ in Houston and a congregant of Spring Woodlands Church of Christ in The Woodlands; Mr. Whisennand is a graduate of the University of Illinois and retired at the close of a notable 36-year career with Shell Oil Company; and WHEREAS, Now enjoying their well-deserved retirement, the couple's shared activities include volunteering at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, participating with their church's Bible study life group, and enjoying the companionship of their Lakeland Terrier, Maggie; moreover, Mrs. Whisennand is an accomplished artist and longtime member of the Northwest Houston Republican Women's Club, while Mr. Whisennand devotes some of his leisure time to golfing and woodworking; and WHEREAS, Together, this couple have shared the trials and triumphs of half a century, and their commitment to each other gladdens the hearts of their family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Karl and Ramona Whisennand on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them warmest best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Whisennand as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
