R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Having recently passed the Texas Bar Examination, Mary Teresia "Tessa" Zavala is being sworn in as a licensed attorney in the State of Texas on May 22, 2003, and this event provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on her many achievements; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Zavala earned a bachelor of arts degree in government from The University of Texas at Austin in 1995 and went on to attain her doctor of jurisprudence degree from the University of Arkansas in 1998; and WHEREAS, Already licensed to practice law in California, this talented young woman has for the past three years served as general counsel to State Representative Beverly Woolley, and in that capacity she has earned the respect of all who know her for her intelligence, initiative, and outstanding work ethic; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Zavala has enjoyed the love and support of her parents, Michael and Åsa Johnson, and her husband, Jacob "Jake" Zavala, in all her endeavors; and WHEREAS, In passing this demanding examination, Mrs. Zavala has accomplished yet another milestone in her career, and it is a pleasure to recognize this significant achievement; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Mary Teresia "Tessa" Zavala on passing the Texas Bar Examination and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Zavala as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
