R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The House of Representatives is pleased to recognize Donald McKusker for his receipt of the first Outstanding Alumni Volunteer Award from the Houston Alumni Organization; and WHEREAS, Mr. McKusker was honored at the Houston Alumni Organization Awards Dinner on April 11, 2003, at the University Hilton Hotel; the men and women selected for these prestigious tributes have been unwavering in their service and support in behalf of the University of Houston (UH); and WHEREAS, The Outstanding Alumni Volunteer Award, being given for the first time this year, pays tribute to alumni for their generosity in volunteering their time throughout the year; and WHEREAS, Mr. McKusker served his country with distinction as a member of the United States Navy during World War II and is a 1950 UH graduate with a bachelor's degree in business management; he is retired after a 31-year career with Cravens, Dargan and Company that involved working in the finance department and in the ultimate position of vice president, followed by 11 years with Transamerica Insurance Company as a senior marketing executive; and WHEREAS, He has shared his time as a volunteer with the Girl Scouts of America as well as the Boy Scouts of America, of which he has been a member for more than 43 years and which he currently serves as an advisory board member of the Sam Houston Area Council; and WHEREAS, Mr. McKusker is a life member of the Houston Alumni Organization, has chaired the Golden Cougar Reunion Committee, and for four years has given of his time to the homecoming king and queen judging committee for the UH student program board; and WHEREAS, Donald McKusker's outstanding leadership and untiring devotion to the University of Houston and his community have truly enhanced the lives of his fellow citizens, and he is a notable role model for all those who are privileged to know or know of him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Donald McKusker on his receipt of the first Outstanding Alumni Volunteer Award from the Houston Alumni Organization and extend to him best wishes for success and happiness in his future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. McKusker as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
