H.R. No. 1438

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Juan Jose "JJ" Martinez is celebrating his 37th birthday on May 25, 2003, and the members of this chamber are pleased to recognize all he has accomplished in the many years that have passed since his birth; and WHEREAS, Born in Los Angeles, California, way back in 1966, JJ is the son of Lucithelma and Alfredo Martinez, whose stay in the Golden State robbed him of his chance to be a real Texan; these days JJ and his beloved wife, Nora, are active residents of Eagle Pass, where they can often be found attempting to keep one step ahead of their busy brood of four children; and WHEREAS, JJ's outstanding work ethic was honed through years of working for his parents at the Del Rio Food and Meat Market after school; he left the family business behind in 1985 after graduating from Del Rio High School and accepting a scholarship to The University of Texas at Austin; and WHEREAS, While some people take a break from college at South Padre, JJ chose to leave for a stint in the marines before returning to school to complete his bachelor's degree in government; during his college career he was a frat boy with Phi Kappa Theta, and he pursued his passion for movies by directing an animated short titled Luz; and WHEREAS, Though this high school thespian has traded in his early career goals of becoming an actor and comedian and has instead established himself as the legislative director for State Representative Timoteo Garza's staff, it is still safe to say that his many fans and coworkers at the office find him to be extremely well read, knowledgeable about any topic, and all around "Dyn-o-mite!"; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Juan Jose "JJ" Martinez as he celebrates his 37th birthday and extend to him sincere appreciation for his numerous contributions to the work of the chamber this session; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Martinez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
