H.R. No. 1440
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of a Texan is indeed a notable
event, and Jewel Carver Clark of Milam County celebrated this
special milestone on January 28, 2003; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Clark was born in Hamilton Chapel on January
28, 1903; she married James McGinnis Clark on Valentine's Day in
1921, and they were blessed with five children; her family has since
grown to include 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, In addition to being a devoted wife and caring
homemaker, Mrs. Clark earned her teaching certificate at what is
now Sam Houston State University in Huntsville and taught at
schools in Hamilton Chapel, San Andres, and Thorndale; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Clark is an admirable individual who is an
inspiration to all who know her, and the many people who have shared
in the kindness, friendship, and warm sense of humor of this
esteemed lady have truly been given a special gift; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Jewel Carver Clark on the momentous
occasion of her 100th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes
for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Clark as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
