R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Supporting the development and advancement of
medical science and research is truly a commendable endeavor, and
the Duncan family of Houston recently pledged $2 million to the New
Frontiers Campaign for the Institute of Molecular Medicine for the
Prevention of Human Diseases (IMM); and
WHEREAS, Presented by patriarch Dan Duncan, his wife, Jan,
daughters Randa Duncan Williams, Dannine Duncan Avara, and Milane
Duncan, and son Scott Duncan, this extraordinary gift will provide
a new home for IMM and additional work space for its molecular and
genetic research into the causes of common human diseases; and
WHEREAS, Scientists at IMM are dedicated to developing
treatments and therapies that will transform the vision of disease
prevention into the reality of everyday patient care, and the
generous support of the Duncan family will no doubt be of great
assistance in helping to bring this important goal to fruition;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby honor the Duncan family for their philanthropic
support of the Institute of Molecular Medicine for the Prevention
of Human Diseases and commend these remarkable Texans for their
dedication to advancing medical science; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the members of this notable family as an expression of
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
