R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Grapevine High School teacher Janice Cook has been accorded a great honor by the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District with her selection as Secondary Teacher of the Year; and WHEREAS, This accolade recognizes Mrs. Cook's commitment to inspiring students through innovative and effective instruction techniques, her ability to work closely with colleagues, and her active involvement in community affairs; and WHEREAS, In a truth-is-sometimes-stranger-than-fiction fashion, Mrs. Cook's twin sister, Justine McNeely, with whom she attended the same college, received the same degree, and earned the same score on the Graduate Record Exam, was recently named Teacher of the Year at Fort Worth's M.H. Moore Elementary School; and WHEREAS, A 32-year veteran of the classroom, Mrs. Cook teaches advanced placement language and composition, and she continually strives to keep abreast of the latest educational theories and practices and to incorporate them profitably in her classes; and WHEREAS, By so adroitly engaging her students' interest in reading and writing and so ably strengthening their grasp of these vital skills, Mrs. Cook is having a positive and lasting influence on the lives of innumerable young Texans and contributing to the enrichment of the wider society; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Janice Cook on being named the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District's Secondary Teacher of the Year and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Cook as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
