R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Virginia K. "Kay" Engler on May 14, 2003, at the age of 46, has brought a great loss to the family, friends, coworkers, and students of this beloved teacher; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Engler began her career with the Seguin Independent School District in 1985 as a physical education teacher at Ball Elementary School and also worked at Patlan Elementary School before joining the staff of Koennecke Elementary School; in 1999 she took on the additional challenge of becoming a classroom teacher and also demonstrated a gift for administration as interim principal at Juan Seguin Prekindergarten; and WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to maintaining her students' physical health, Mrs. Engler sponsored an annual health and wellness fair at the school gymnasium, and under her coordination, Koennecke Elementary School was selected by the Texas Education Agency as a wellness demonstration site; and WHEREAS, Although the friendship, wisdom, and generosity of Mrs. Engler are greatly missed, her remarkable spirit lives on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched during her time on this earth; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Virginia K. "Kay" Engler and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband, Danny Engler; to her parents, Ben and Ruth Cravey; to her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Lance Engler and Rhonda Engler; to her brothers and sisters-in-law, Matthew and Cindy Cravey and Wilton and Renee Cravey; to her nieces, Taylor Cravey, Jordan Keller Cravey, Amanda Cravey, and Heather Cravey; to her nephew, Matthew Cravey, Jr.; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Virginia Engler.
