R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Horizon City Kiwanis Club has long been a source
of support and service for the citizens of West Texas, and it is
most deserving of special recognition; and
WHEREAS, Established on March 29, 1975, the 34-member Horizon
City Kiwanis Club sponsors two Key Clubs, provides scholarships,
and helps support myriad community endeavors; it has an annual
Easter Sunrise Service and fund-raising efforts that include
charity bingo games and a flag service; and
WHEREAS, Providing leadership and guidance to their fellow
members are Martin A. Culpepper, president; Marie R. Cadena,
immediate past president; Ann M. Miller, treasurer; Dorothy
Mersinger, assistant treasurer; Patricia Randleel, secretary; and
MaryBeth M. Rank, assistant secretary; directors include Arleen A.
Beard, Meredith Eckhardt, Constance C. Fulk, Patricia L. Ivey,
Benjamin Narbuth, and William Rutherford; and
WHEREAS, The Kiwanis membership roster also includes Antonio
Aguilar, Jane A. Alvizo, Irma L. Barraza, Ruben M. Barraza,
Kimberly J. Baxter, A. W. Borst, Greta Dean, Audrey P. Glaze,
Jeffrey Ivey, Nathaniel Jones, Joe Keith, Kenneth C. Mearns, Walter
L. Miller, Jennifer Murphy, Vincent Murphy, Rosa M. Pena, John
Quintana, Luta C. Roberts, Bessie Rutherford, Reinaldo
Santillanes, Bethani S. Sellers, and Mary Lou Wilson-Aguilar; and
WHEREAS, Since 1975, the Horizon City Kiwanis Club has
greatly enhanced the lives of countless Texans, and the
organization truly merits special recognition; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby commend the officers, directors, and members of
the Horizon City Kiwanis Club for exceptional work in behalf of
others and extend to all affiliated with the club best wishes for
the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
