H.R. No. 1499



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Abner Sanchez is celebrating a significant 
milestone in his life on May 29, 2003, for on that date he will 
graduate from Clint High School; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Sanchez has shown initiative, leadership, and a 
determination to succeed during his academic career; as he dons his 
cap and gown to receive his diploma, he can take great pride in his 
notable achievements; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Sanchez has participated in the Hi-Tek Aviation 
One program offered through Upper Rio Grande @ Work Youth Services; 
in addition to taking academic courses including mathematics, 
geography, and meteorology, the 18-year-old has learned career and 
life skills through the study of aviation and its related 
functions; and
	WHEREAS, Taught to fly a Cessna four-seater plane, he earned 
flying time credits toward a pilot's license; the program included 
classroom instruction, flight simulator training, and "air time" 
spent traveling from El Paso to Santa Teresa and Las Cruces, New 
Mexico, and back to El Paso; and
	WHEREAS, Following his high school graduation, Mr. Sanchez is 
planning to continue his education at St. Lawrence University in 
Canton, New York, where he will pursue a degree in engineering; and
	WHEREAS, This impressive young Texan has demonstrated 
exemplary determination and commitment to his goals, and he is most 
deserving of recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Abner Sanchez on his high school 
graduation, commend him for his academic achievements, and extend 
to him best wishes for success and happiness in the coming years; 
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. Sanchez as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
