H.R. No. 1503
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Christine A. Ehlig-Economides, petroleum
engineering director at the Univeristy of Houston, will be inducted
into the National Academy of Engineering in recognition of her
exemplary contributions to the theory and practice of her
profession; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Ehlig-Economides is an adjunct professor in the
department of chemical engineering who has elevated the visibility
of the university's master's program in petroleum engineering,
significantly increasing enrollment and promoting cooperation
between the school and Universidad La Salle in Mexico; she is also
global account manager and consultant for Schlumberger Oilfield
Services; the National Academy of Engineering has elected her to
its ranks for "contributions to the testing of wells and the
characterization of reservoirs"; and
WHEREAS, The history of the Lone Star State has been forged by
Texans who value innovation, creativity, careful analysis, and bold
synthesis, and the work of this outstanding scientist will continue
to shape the destiny of our state for many generations to come; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Christine Ehlig-Economides of the
University of Houston on her 2003 induction into the National
Academy of Engineering and extend to her best wishes for continued
success and happiness in her future endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Dr. Ehlig-Economides as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
