R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Ann T. Hamilton has been accorded a well-deserved honor with the receipt of The Park People of Houston 2003 George R. Brown Memorial Award; and WHEREAS, The Park People, Inc., is a nonprofit citizens' organization dedicated to the preservation, enhancement, and expansion of open green space in the Houston area; the George R. Brown Memorial Award is the highest annual honor that the organization bestows, and it was named in remembrance of one of the city's greatest philanthropists; and WHEREAS, A deserving recipient of this award, Ms. Hamilton is a longtime leader in parks advocacy in Houston and beyond; she is a leader in environmental grant-making through the Texas Environmental Grantmakers Group and is on the grants staff at Houston Endowment, Inc.; she previously organized Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado in the governor's office, served as executive director for The Park People and also of the Houston Parks Board, and was a staff member at Fossil Rim Wildlife Park in Glen Rose, Texas; and WHEREAS, The commitment that this esteemed woman has demonstrated to the goals of The Park People of Houston is truly worthy of special praise, and it is an honor to recognize her at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Ann T. Hamilton on the receipt of The Park People of Houston 2003 George R. Brown Memorial Award and commend her for her valuable contributions to her community; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Hamilton as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
