H.R. No. 1510
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great
pleasure in honoring Dr. Mae Harris Marion and the students of the
Sunday school class that she teaches at David Chapel Baptist Church
in Austin; and
WHEREAS, For three months, Dr. Marion and her students raised
money by selling candy door-to-door and to the members of the
church's congregation; they collected an impressive $1,500, which
they promptly donated to the Sickle Cell Association of Austin; and
WHEREAS, The youth who participated in this noteworthy
project include Christopher K. Mensah, Candie D. Mensah, Williams
Jacobs, Jr., Joycelyn B. Taylor, Evelyn N. Taylor, Marie
Washington, Annie J. Williams, Donnetta McCall, and Trenton L.
Taylor; and
WHEREAS, Through their support of the Sickle Cell
Association, Dr. Marion and her students have positively affected
the lives of countless Texans, and they are truly deserving of
special recognition for their successful fund-raising efforts;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Dr. Mae Harris Marion and her Sunday
school students for their support of the Sickle Cell Association of
Austin and extend to them sincere best wishes for success in all of
their future endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Dr. Marion's class as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
