R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Demonstrating the highest ideals of community 
service, Rose Lancaster has worked diligently to benefit her fellow 
Texans in myriad ways; and
	WHEREAS, Currently raising money for and organizing a project 
to provide affordable housing for single adults in Austin who have 
low incomes, Ms. Lancaster has  an impressive record of service that 
includes the expansion of local after-school programs, such as 
Extend-A-Care and the tutoring program at Manos de Cristo; she also 
has helped to develop a dental clinic and food pantry; and
	WHEREAS, Past president of the Austin-area League of Women 
Voters, Ms. Lancaster has spent considerable time traveling the 
world for the international women's empowerment movement; for the 
past six years, she has generously given her time to be board 
president of the Capitol Area Homeless Alliance, a nonprofit 
organization she helped to form in 1997; and
	WHEREAS, Ms. Lancaster is an inspirational figure in her 
community, where her work will undoubtedly be of lasting benefit; 
now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby commend Rose Lancaster on her exemplary 
community service and extend to her warmest best wishes for 
continued success and happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Ms. Lancaster as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
