R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The family and friends of Ponce Cruz Flores were
deeply saddened by the passing of this esteemed gentleman on May 15,
2003; and
WHEREAS, Born on November 19, 1927, Mr. Flores was a lifelong
resident of Houston; at age 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and
served his country with distinction during World War II as a Seaman
second class; after the war, he became a respected ceramic tile
contractor; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Flores was a devoted husband to his wife of 56
years, Angelita, and a caring father, grandfather, and
great-grandfather; although his presence is deeply missed, his
memory will be kept alive in the hearts of those individuals who
were fortunate enough to have known him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Ponce Cruz Flores and
extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
Angelita; to his children and their spouses, Marina Flores and
Kenneth Sugg, Jr., Laurie Flores, Sylvia and David Coffey, Alfred
Flores, Steven Cruz and Blanca Flores, and Gregory and Martha
Flores; to his grandchildren; to his great-grandchildren; to his
brothers and sisters; and to his other relatives and many friends;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns on this day, it do so in memory of Ponce
Cruz Flores.
