R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Dana Lee Gold passed from this life on August 17, 2002, but the wonderful memories of his love of family, unbridled energy, and generous spirit live on; and WHEREAS, A native of Fredericksburg, Mr. Gold met his beloved wife Gretchen at Southwest Texas State University where he received a degree in government and business; and WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman's professional accomplishments as a teacher, personnel director, and executive administrator at the Tinsman, Scott and Sciano Law Firm in San Antonio were impressive; however, Mr. Gold's personal values placed devotion to his family and service to his community ahead of personal ambition; and WHEREAS, A natural and enthusiastic leader guided by deep spiritual tenets, Mr. Gold, an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, worked for the betterment of mankind and was the quintessential volunteer, supporter, and organizer of good works, community events, and benevolent endeavors; the most prominent aspects of Mr. Gold's service on behalf of organizations and institutions included tireless efforts as a member and leader of the Optimist Club, the Wurstfest Association, Communities in Schools, and the Hugh O'Brien Youth Foundation, which was recently reorganized under a new name, the Gold Youth Leadership Program, in honor of this fine gentleman; and WHEREAS, The son of an original German pioneering family, Mr. Gold approached community projects and opportunities for service with the spirit and determination of his forefathers; he always met the challenge of new journeys to bring hope and joy to fellow human beings and his kind and generous spirit will be missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby honor the life of Dana Gold and extend to his family deepest sympathy: to his wife, Gretchen; to his sons, Brandon and Christopher; to his mother, Geraldine Gold; to his sister, Diane Reeh; to his niece, Stacey Reeh; and to his many beloved friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dana Gold.
