R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Weldon and Grace Shuck of Midland observed their
golden wedding anniversary with a cruise of the Hawaiian Islands,
commemorating their 50-year union and celebrating their love for
one another; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Shuck and the former Grace McCulloch were united
in marriage on April 5, 1953, at University Baptist Church in
Abilene; their strong and loving union has been blessed with two
children, Marna-Lee Hopkins and Roy Shuck, and three grandchildren;
and
WHEREAS, Midland residents since 1971, the Shucks have lived
in Alabama and California as well as in Houston, Monahans, and
Abilene; they are longtime members of First Baptist Church and
share a love for travel with their friends in the Wally Byam
Airstream Club International; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Shuck enjoyed a 36-year career as a civil
engineer with Humble Oil and Exxon before retiring in 1986, while
Mrs. Shuck was a dedicated employee of Goodrum Oil and Gas
Accounting for more than seven years; and
WHEREAS, This devoted couple are an inspiration to all who
know them, and it is a pleasure to pay tribute to them and to
recognize their 50th wedding anniversary; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Weldon and Grace Shuck on the occasion of
their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for
continued success and happiness in their lives together; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Shuck as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
