R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Promoting literacy in a community contributes to the 
quality of life enjoyed by its residents, and to support this 
admirable goal, the citizens of Collin County recently set aside a 
special day to celebrate literacy and heighten awareness of this 
pressing need among some members of the community; and
	WHEREAS, The Collin County Adult Literacy Council and other 
literacy providers have worked diligently to help people learn to 
read as well as to provide opportunities for non-English speaking 
residents of Plano to learn English; moreover, they encourage local 
residents to become involved in the important work of literacy 
instruction; and
	WHEREAS,  Spreading knowledge of the written word strengthens 
a community in myriad ways, and the benefits of literacy promotion 
will be of lasting value to all who commit themselves to this worthy 
endeavor; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby commend the Collin County Adult Literacy Council 
and other literacy providers for their tireless work in behalf of 
others and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued 
success.
