H.R. No. 1544


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, For the past quarter-century, Jerry Huffman Custom Builders has served the citizens of North Texas with distinction while contributing to the betterment of the communities it serves; and WHEREAS, Founded by company president Jerry Huffman in 1978, the company specializes in building condominium complexes for use as office space by doctors, dentists, lawyers, accountants, and other professionals; having emerged as one of the leading office condominium builders in the state, the company now has complexes throughout Plano, McKinney, Allen, The Colony, Las Colinas, and Carrollton as well as in San Antonio, Austin, and Houston; and WHEREAS, Though Mr. Huffman is the driving force behind the company's impressive growth, his family members are also pivotal to its continued success; the buildings' interiors are custom designed by his mother, Joanne, landscaping and exterior maintenance are overseen by his sister, Jennifer Golden, marketing is handled by his father, Max, and his sister Stephanie Rippe serves as senior vice president of operations for the company; and WHEREAS, A long-time Rotarian and Paul Harris Fellow, Mr. Huffman is committed to that organization's mission of humanitarian service and, to that end, this esteemed gentleman has given generously of his time and resources in behalf of his fellow Texans, perhaps most visibly through the instrumental role he played in rebuilding the Plano Children's Medical Clinic after the original structure burned down in 1999; and WHEREAS, Jerry Huffman Custom Builders hosted a Black Tie Gala benefiting the Plano Children's Medical Clinic on May 16, 2003, in celebration of the company's silver anniversary, and it is a pleasure to join in commemorating such a significant milestone in the history of this outstanding Texas business; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate all those associated with Jerry Huffman Custom Builders on the memorable occasion of the company's 25th anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the company as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
