R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Tabita Gutierrez will become the principal of Johnston High School in Austin on July 1, 2003, and she is bringing skilled leadership and dedication to the well-being of her students to her new position; and WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas--Pan American, Mrs. Gutierrez has 34 years of educational experience that includes being a counselor and a teacher as well as running an alternative high school and college preparatory program; her impressive resume includes service as principal of Options in Education High School, as head of school for the International Baccalaureate program at Lamar Academy, and as principal in charge of the McAllen school district's Child Care Center; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Gutierrez has committed herself to the faculty and students at Johnston High School, and her work will undoubtedly benefit the lives of many young Texans; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Tabita Gutierrez on being named principal of Johnston High School in Austin and extend to her best wishes for success and happiness in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Gutierrez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
