R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Blinn College Lady Buccaneers attained national prominence with their performance at the 2003 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) softball tournament, taking the runner-up spot at that prestigious sporting event; and WHEREAS, Although seeded 10th in the 16-team field, this determined Blinn College squad earned hard-fought tournament victories over Wabash Valley College of Illinois, Young Harris College of Georgia, Dixie State College of Utah, and Seminole State College of Oklahoma before being eliminated by Central Arizona College; and WHEREAS, The team's outstanding season and magnificent tournament run were the result of the dedication and discipline of players Sara Wilson, Briana Woods, Amanda Cardona, Jennifer Crayton, Jenna Margraves, Lara Belt, Mandy Hacker, Brandy Hill, Ashley Marie, Megan Gore, Tara Lindsey, Celeste Rickert, Lacey Groshek, Amber King, and Tomie McDaniel; Ms. Crayton, Ms. Hacker, and Ms. Hill also earned individual distinction as members of the All-Tournament team; and WHEREAS, Head coach Rick Church, whose overall record at Blinn College is 115-66, provided his young charges with superb leadership and guidance, and he was ably supported in his efforts by assistant coach Londa Kauffman; and WHEREAS, These talented student-athletes have brought pride and prestige to Blinn College and have given their many fans an exciting season they won't soon forget; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the Blinn College Lady Buccaneers softball team on finishing as runner-up at the 2003 NJCAA tournament and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
