R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The Ysleta Independent School District (YISD) has 
demonstrated admirable and innovative fiscal responsibility by 
finding ways to save money through substantially cutting its energy 
costs; and
	WHEREAS, After a professional energy audit, the YISD expects 
to achieve savings reaching $13 million by reducing wasteful 
electricity use across the district's 65 facilities; furthermore, 
energy conservation methods will be taught in school classrooms 
through a special energy-education program; and
	WHEREAS, At a time when school district taxes comprise the 
largest portion of the property tax bill, these millions of dollars 
in savings will greatly benefit area residents as well as the school 
district; such a mutually beneficial initiative is a truly 
commendable endeavor and a credit to YISD officials; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby recognize the Ysleta Independent School 
District for its efforts to reduce the district's energy costs and 
extend to those individuals involved in this important work best 
wishes for future success; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for YISD as an expression of high regard by the Texas House 
of Representatives.
