R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Country music sensation Miranda Lambert of Lindale
had already gained broad support in the Lone Star State from touring
on the Texas music circuit, and when she appeared on the Nashville
Star television program and won third prize, her acclaim grew to
national proportions; and
WHEREAS, An honest, true-to-Texas singer and songwriter, Ms.
Lambert released her first album, self-titled Miranda Lambert, in
September 2001, and her singles "Texas Pride" and "Somebody Else"
enjoyed lengthy stays on the Texas music chart; in the grand finale
of Nashville Star, Ms. Lambert sang an extraordinary duet of "Bye,
Bye" with Jo Dee Messina to claim third place; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Lambert is undoubtedly embarking upon an
exciting and immensely successful musical career, and this bright
young star may be certain that her greatest fans come from her home
state of Texas; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Miranda Lambert on her outstanding
third place finish on Nashville Star and extend to her best wishes
for good fortune and happiness in the years to come; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Lambert as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
