R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Following in the footsteps of her grandfather and
two aunts, all of whom taught school for 50 years, LaRue Dorsey is
concluding more than half a century in education with her
retirement from the Waco Independent School District in 2003; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Dorsey earned her bachelor of arts degree from
Mary Allen College in 1952 and her master of education degree from
Texas Southern University in 1955; she began her career by teaching
fifth grade in Stamford, and since 1960 she has taught fifth and
sixth grades and pre-kindergarten in the Waco ISD; and
WHEREAS, Encouraging her students to excel by providing a
supportive and challenging classroom environment, Ms. Dorsey has
worked to instill a lifelong love of learning in each child that she
has taught; she is a motivator who helps the young boys and girls
develop self-confidence and the awareness that they are capable of
great achievements; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Dorsey has received numerous awards and
recognitions, but undoubtedly her greatest reward comes from
knowing that she has positively affected the lives of hundreds of
young Texans and that her influence can be felt through many
generations; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate LaRue Dorsey on the occasion of her
retirement and extend to her warmest best wishes for future
happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Dorsey as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
