H.R. No. 1599
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Retired physician Dr. William O'Quin has earned the
deep respect and admiration of his patients, family, neighbors, and
fellow citizens during his many years of service as a community
physician; and
WHEREAS, A longtime resident of the historic Texas city of
Mineral Wells, located in Palo Pinto County, Dr. O'Quin has never
failed to answer the call when his community has needed his
formidable talents and leadership abilities; and
WHEREAS, When Nazareth Hospital was suddenly closed in 1968,
Dr. O'Quin led a community effort to create the Palo Pinto Hospital
District through a county referendum to ensure the continuation of
essential health services in the area; largely through his diligent
efforts, Palo Pinto General Hospital was created by state statute
with Dr. O'Quin serving on its inaugural board of directors; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed humanitarian retired in 1999,
following a career committed to the welfare of Palo Pinto County
residents that included his involvement as a hospital district
trustee, chief of staff, medical director, and county public health
director; and
WHEREAS, Dr. William O'Quin's selfless dedication to public
service and health care is exemplary, and he indeed merits special
recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Dr. William O'Quin for his exemplary
contributions in behalf of his community and the welfare of its
residents and extend to him sincere best wishes for a happy and
rewarding retirement; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Dr. O'Quin as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
