R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Milbert William "Bill" Held of Houston on May 16, 2003, at the age of 76, has deeply saddened the family and many friends of this admired man; and WHEREAS, Mr. Held was born on November 3, 1926, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Milbert William Held, Sr., and Virginia Emily Held; and WHEREAS, With his bride, the former Ethlyn "Lynn" Fiedler, Mr. Held exchanged wedding vows in a ceremony held on November 10, 1951; he enjoyed a warm and enduring relationship with his wife that was richly blessed through the years with three children and seven granddaughters, in whom he took great pride; and WHEREAS, His professional life included owning Sprayco, cofounded by Mr. Held and Harold Fiedler in 1957; in addition to contributing to his community through his significant efforts as a businessman, he was a charter member of Advent Lutheran Church and an active congregant in many of its activities, including the Lutheran Brotherhood, and he served as the troop leader for Boy Scouts of America Troop 589; and WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share the friendship of Mr. Held will long miss his presence, and he will be remembered with great affection and respect for many years to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Milbert William "Bill" Held and extend sincere sympathy to his wife of 51 years, Lynn Held; to his daughter, Valerie Held Oden, and her husband, Ted; to his son, Ronnie Held, and his wife, Cindy; to his granddaughters, Courtney, Carly, Caty, and Chelsey Oden, and Layne, Kylie, and Quinn Held; to his brother, Mike Ellis Held, and his wife, Barbara; and to all those who mourn the passing of this beloved man; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Milbert William Held.
