H.R. No. 1650
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The National Center for the Employment of the
Disabled is a company whose mission statement dedicates the
not-for-profit enterprise to provide meaningful employment
primarily for the severely disabled and disadvantaged population in
the Greater El Paso area; and
WHEREAS, The center helps its employees to become
contributing members of their community by providing training and
employment in a variety of disciplines within the manufacturing and
service industries; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of the president and chief
executive officer, Robert Jones, the National Center for the
Employment of the Disabled has been successful in its mission by
competing for and successfully winning business from a variety of
companies throughout the nation, as well as from the federal
government; and
WHEREAS, The dedication and superior work ethic demonstrated
by the employees of this fine organization are some of the reasons
that the company was selected by the United States Department of
Defense to manufacture chemical and biological protective suits for
United States military personnel; and
WHEREAS, During the recent war in Iraq, every soldier,
airman, and sailor in the theatre of battle received a chemical
protective suit as a part of their standard-issue equipment to
protect them against the use of chemical or biological agents on the
battlefield; these protective suits, created by employees of the
National Center for the Employment of the Disabled, played a vital
role in the safety and peace of mind of every member of the
country's armed forces; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby offer its congratulations and recognition to the
more than 1,000 employees of the National Center for the Employment
of the Disabled for their patriotism and continuing effort to keep
our nation's military men and women the best equipped in the world;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the National Center for the Employment of the Disabled
as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
Representatives.
