R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Diane Whitty has recently won election as mayor of
Horizon City, and her desire to serve her fellow citizens as a
public official makes her worthy of special legislative recognition
at this time; and
WHEREAS, A democratic form of government depends on the
informed participation of its people, and foremost among the
system's participants are those dedicated men and women who are
willing to make the sacrifices necessary to take on the role of
public servant; and
WHEREAS, The demands of public office are great and the
rewards are not always immediately apparent; public servants must
continually balance the needs of their constituents with the best
use of available resources, and few issues are easily resolved; and
WHEREAS, In taking on this difficult challenge, Diane Whitty
has joined the proud tradition of citizen leadership that has been
our nation's trademark for more than two centuries, and she can take
justifiable pride in the role she will play in this noble legacy;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Diane Whitty on her recent election
as mayor of Horizon City and extend to her warmest best wishes for
future success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Whitty as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
