R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Since 1990, the Socorro Senior Citizens Nutrition Center has served as a much-needed social and recreational outlet and nutritional resource for area senior citizens; and WHEREAS, This exemplary organization is operated under the auspices of the El Paso County Senior Citizens Nutrition Program and has, for more than a decade, helped West Texas seniors to remain healthy, active, and engaged; in addition to hosting dances and picnics, the center sponsors a wide variety of social activities ranging from arts and crafts classes to bingo, pool, dominoes, swimming, and card games; and WHEREAS, The success of the Socorro Senior Citizens Nutrition Center would not be possible without the support of its dedicated officers, who include president Delia Solis, vice president Jose Serna, secretary Lucia Saenz, and treasurer Merle Lawson; the staff members at the facility have committed considerable time and resources to improving the lives of their fellow Texans, and they are indeed deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby commend all those associated with the Socorro Senior Citizens Nutrition Center for their outstanding service in behalf of the area's elderly citizens and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for prominent display at the Socorro Senior Citizens Nutrition Center as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
