R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Val Verde County Jail and Correctional Facility
in Del Rio has received accreditation from the National Commission
on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC), and this significant
accomplishment has been achieved through the hard work and
dedication of a highly professional staff; and
WHEREAS, The NCCHC recognizes facilities that are in
compliance with the organization's standards for health care in
jails, standards that are currently met by less than five percent of
all such facilities nationwide; and
WHEREAS, Opened in January 2001 and managed by Wackenhut
Corrections Corporation, the Val Verde County Jail and Correctional
Facility won accreditation after little more than two years in
operation; this outstanding success is due to the collective
efforts of John Campbell, warden, Teresa Kesteloot, health services
administrator, and the entire medical staff; and
WHEREAS, By striving to safeguard the health of those
incarcerated, the staff of the Val Verde County Jail and
Correctional Facility is also helping to promote morale among the
inmates and to protect the health of both those who work with them
and the communities to which they will return; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate John Campbell, Teresa Kesteloot,
and the medical staff of the Val Verde County Jail and Correctional
Facility on its accreditation by the National Commission on
Correctional Health Care and extend to them sincere best wishes for
continued success.
