                                                                  H.R. No. 1684



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The year 2003 marks the grand opening of the Light of 
Hope gift shop in Mercedes, owned by Norma Closner and located in 
the Closner Industrial Park; and
	WHEREAS, The proceeds raised by sales at the shop will be 
donated to the American Cancer Society via the James Richard 
Closner Foundation, which was named in memory of Mrs. Closner's 
son; the gift shop was established as a tribute to him and as a 
"light of hope" to the many people who are continuing their fight 
against cancer; and
	WHEREAS, Truly a welcome addition to the Mercedes community, 
the Light of Hope gift shop not only will contribute to the area's 
economy, but also will contribute to the cause of cancer research 
and positively affect the lives of countless Texans; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Norma Closner on the opening of the 
Light of Hope gift shop and extend to her sincere best wishes for 
success in the years to come; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mrs. Closner as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
