R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, During the 78th Texas Legislative Session Patricia Villarreal of McAllen has served with distinction as a legislative aide in the Capitol office of State Representative Miguel D. Wise; and WHEREAS, Ms. Villarreal is a participant in the inaugural class of the Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program through the Mexican American Legislative Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit, nonpartisan corporation that fosters leadership qualities among the state's Latino youth; and WHEREAS, The 12 individuals enrolled in this worthy program have gained valuable experience in a political environment, and their busy schedules include weekly seminars at which distinguished guests have included Raul Yzaguirre, National Council of La Raza president; Maria Echaveste, former White House deputy chief of staff; and Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice Tom Phillips; and WHEREAS, A December 2002 graduate of Texas A&M University, Ms. Villarreal received a bachelor's degree in political science with a minor in business administration; she was one of four scholars selected to lead the Texas Association of Student Councils, and she was a five-year recipient of an academic excellence scholarship awarded in recognition of her academic achievements and exemplary service to her school and community; she chaired the 85-person Aggie Recruitment Committee and was active with university committees including the Diversity Task Force and the Undergraduate Academic Advisory Council; and WHEREAS, Patricia Villarreal is an impressive young woman who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and integrity throughout this legislative session, and it is a pleasure to honor her for her hard work in behalf of her fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby commend Patricia Villarreal for her outstanding contributions as a staff member in the office of State Representative Miguel D. Wise and extend to her sincere best wishes for success in the years to come; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Villarreal as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
