H.R. No. 1688



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Mario Ruiz, Jr., of Donna has given generously of 
his time and talent as a legislative intern in the office of 
Representative Miguel D. Wise during the 78th Texas Legislative 
Session; and
	WHEREAS, The son of Janie Colin, this outstanding young Texan 
has consistently demonstrated the ability to respond quickly and 
effectively to the challenges that arise daily in a demanding 
office environment; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Ruiz, an honors graduate of Donna High School,   
is currently attending The University of Texas at Austin as a 
government major and Mexican-American studies minor, and he plans 
to graduate in December 2003; and
	WHEREAS, An intelligent young man well-versed in the history 
of the cities within the Rio Grande Valley and able to name each of 
their founders, Mr. Ruiz aspires to be an exceptional educator and 
one day earn the Teacher of the Year award at Donna Independent 
School District; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Ruiz has demonstrated his leadership abilities 
as an Eagle Scout and as a mentor for the Donna Independent School 
District, and he has recently completed his term as the vice 
president of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Student 
Group; and
	WHEREAS, During his superb tenure, Mr. Ruiz has distinguished 
himself as a valued and trusted legislative assistant, and his many 
significant contributions to the office have helped to ensure its 
smooth functioning throughout the course of the session; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby commend Mario Ruiz, Jr., for his exemplary 
service as a legislative intern and extend to him sincere best 
wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. Ruiz as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
