H.R. No. 1697



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Xavier Salinas has been chosen to serve as president 
of the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District (ECISD) 
board of trustees; and
	WHEREAS, One of the geographically largest school districts 
in the nation, ECISD encompasses 945 square miles, includes 3 high 
schools, 4 middle schools, 1 alternative campus, and 24 elementary 
schools, and employs more than 3,500 individuals; and
	WHEREAS, The district's board of trustees is composed of 
seven elected members who establish the policies that govern the 
students and employees of the school district; and
	WHEREAS, In his new position, Mr. Salinas is assuming an 
important role in the community; he will lead the board as it meets 
the many challenges that face public education today and helps to 
build a brighter and more promising future for our state's most 
valuable resource--our children; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Xavier Salinas on being named 
president of the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District 
board of trustees and extend to him sincere best wishes for a 
successful and productive term; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. Salinas as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
