R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The citizens of Wichita Falls have lost a beloved member of the community with the passing of Severiana "Sevi" Perez Sanchez on May 22, 2003, at the age of 72; and WHEREAS, Born February 21, 1931, in Rosebud, Texas, Ms. Sanchez opened Sevi's Burritos in Wichita Falls in 1984; arriving at the restaurant at four in the morning, seven days a week, in the early years, she built the business into a local landmark through the quality of her food and the maternal indulgence she extended to her patrons and their culinary requests; though her health had failed in recent years, she loved cooking for her customers and continued to maintain a regular work schedule until shortly before her death; and WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to her family, this strong, resilient woman raised seven children by herself and rejoiced as her family circle grew to include numerous grandchildren; she was also a faithful congregant of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and a valued member of the Guadalupanas; and WHEREAS, Throughout her life, Sevi Sanchez gave unstintingly of herself in nurturing others, and she will be forever held in the hearts of those who were blessed to share her love and affection; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby pay special tribute to Severiana "Sevi" Perez Sanchez and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her children, Stella, Daniel, and Victoria Sanchez, Jesse Sanchez and his wife, Blanca, Marcelina Sanchez, Jr., and his wife, Debbie, Rick Sanchez and his wife, Alicia, and Patricia Hernandez and her husband, Ricardo; to her sisters, Georgia Sosa and her husband, Sacramento, and Camilla Catano and her husband, Cecil; to her brothers, Mercedes Perez and his wife, Carol, and Willie Perez and his wife, Elva; to her sister-in-law, Matilda Perez; to her 14 grandchildren; and to her many other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Severiana "Sevi" Perez Sanchez.
