H.R. No. 1728



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Celina Gonzalez from Americas High School in the 
Socorro Independent School District has received the Dr. W. D. 
Barber Scholarship for Public School Teacher Training at The 
University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP); and
	WHEREAS, Established 11 years ago by former superintendent 
R.  Jerry Barber in honor of his father, a longtime professor of 
education, the Dr. W. D. Barber Scholarship provides $3,000 to a 
full-time UTEP student who maintains a 3.0 grade point average and 
plans to become an educator; and
	WHEREAS, Through hard work and dedication, Ms. Gonzalez has 
achieved scholastic excellence, proving herself to be an exemplary 
student who will one day make an outstanding teacher, and she is 
most deserving of this special award; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Celina Gonzalez on her receipt of 
the Dr. W. D. Barber Scholarship and extend to her best wishes for 
future happiness and success; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Ms. Gonzalez as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
