R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Audra Elizabeth Tafoya celebrated a significant milestone in her life on May 17, 2003, when she graduated from The University of Texas at Austin (UT) with a bachelor's degree in government with a minor in Asian studies; and WHEREAS, Throughout her college career, this talented young woman has shown intelligence, initiative, and a determination to succeed; she can take great pride in her notable scholastic achievement as an honors student as well as in the outstanding contributions she has made as a volunteer with many campus and community organizations; and WHEREAS, Ms. Tafoya served her fellow students as a resident assistant, directed the UT chapter of Best Buddies International, chaired the multiculturalism task force of the Texas Union Council, and volunteered with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the Capital Area; her diverse background includes experience with a public relations firm in Washington, D.C., and employment in Spain; and WHEREAS, During the 78th Legislative Session, Ms. Tafoya has provided able assistance as a legislative aide in the Capitol office of State Representative Eddie Rodriguez, and she has come to admire the city's people, music, and food, particularly breakfast tacos and East Side salsa, over the course of her five years as an Austinite; and WHEREAS, The daughter of Anthony Tafoya and Deborah Fruge Titus, Audra Tafoya has demonstrated that good things are in store for her now that she has attained her college degree, and although she is currently homeless, she has high aspirations to find a job and a place to live in Uzbekistan, Japan, or Orange County, California; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Audra Tafoya on her graduation from The University of Texas at Austin and extend to her best wishes for continued success and happiness in all her future endeavors, wherever they may lead her; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Tafoya as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
