R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Select members of the Texas House of Representatives
wish to recognize, commend, and castigate Diedre Loretta "Boo"
Douglas on the occasion of her surviving the 78th Legislative
Session; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the history of this nation, in times of
great peril and need, the men and women of Texas have served bravely
in legislative battle; and
WHEREAS, Impelled by a genuine desire to serve her fellow
citizens and possessing an instinct for finding solutions, Ms.
Douglas has been known to engage in suspicious activity in the
E2.300 hallway; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her efforts in the political arena
and in public service, Ms. Douglas has regularly disregarded
genuine advice for her future provided by men of great knowledge;
she has consistently failed to heed the sage words of these learned
gentlemen with respect to jettisoning her male companion of
questionable moral standards; and
WHEREAS, Although her accomplishments in office volleyball
far outstrip her ability to analyze legislation and she has proven
unable to find TLIS on her computer, she does have the redeeming
ability to flawlessly surf the Internet to locate the menu of any
restaurant within a 100-mile radius; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her life, Boo Douglas demonstrated an
unyielding determination to correct society's injustices; her
dedication and compassion, together with her cheerful nature and
legendary sense of humor, earned her the lasting respect and
affection of countless friends and community residents, and her
spirit will forever brighten and warm their hearts; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the life of Diedre
Loretta "Boo" Douglas and extend sincere sympathy to her coworkers
and mentors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Douglas as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives, or at least some of them.
