R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS,  Lowe's, a retail store for construction materials, 
appliances, tools, and home improvement products and services, 
opened its first store in Texas in 1979, and since that time has 
made important contributions to the economic health of this state; 
and
	WHEREAS, With more than 50 stores across the state, Lowe's 
employs about 8,500 people in Texas, and with 15 more stores 
currently under construction that number will grow in the coming 
months; and
	WHEREAS, Two of the newest Lowe's stores, opening in mid-June 
in Austin and Pflugerville, will be welcome additions to the 
Central Texas area and important contributors to the local economy; 
and
	WHEREAS, The growth and prosperity of the state and the 
financial security of its citizens depend on businesses like this 
Fortune 200 company, and it is appropriate to take this opportunity 
to recognize this fine company; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Lowe's on the grand opening of its 
two new superstores in Central Texas and commend its officers and 
employees for their many important contributions to the Lone Star 
State's economy; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Lowe's on the occasion of the company's grand opening 
celebrations in Austin and Pflugerville.
