H.R. No. 1786


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Oscar De La Fuente, a man with a history of service and a strong commitment to working to better the lives of others, is justice of the peace in San Benito; and WHEREAS, Judge De La Fuente, who served his country with distinction on the front lines of the Korean War as a soldier in the U.S. Army, has been justice of the peace for more than a decade; and WHEREAS, He is the former co-owner of the Joe and Oscar Food Store, a small neighborhood store that sold everything; he is also a strong advocate of education and has encouraged and inspired many young people to pursue their dreams through academics; and WHEREAS, Both as a public official and as a private citizen, this distinguished Texan has contributed greatly to the betterment of his community and state, and his efforts are truly worthy of special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby commend Justice of the Peace Oscar De La Fuente for his contributions to the city of San Benito and extend to him best wishes for happiness and success in the years ahead; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Judge De La Fuente as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
