R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Carolyn McCain has made a significant contribution
to multicultural education in the Galena Park Independent School
District, and her laudable efforts have been recognized by the
Anti-Defamation League; and
WHEREAS, A teacher for more than 20 years, Ms. McCain has a
bachelor of science degree in biology from Jackson State University
and a master's degree in science education; she currently teaches
chemistry and also has taught biology, anatomy and physiology, and
integrated physics and chemistry; and
WHEREAS, This notable educator was honored for an innovative
program she first implemented at Galena Park High School,
Respecting Ethnic and Cultural Heritage (REACH), that is designed
to help teachers work with students of all races and cultures; and
WHEREAS, Ms. McCain teaches this outstanding program to all
new teachers and staff in her district, and her efforts help to
improve the education of all who pass through Galena Park ISD; and
WHEREAS, Carolyn McCain has taught invaluable lessons to men
and women who are shaping the lives of future generations of Texans,
and for her efforts she is truly worthy of special praise; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Carolyn McCain for her contributions to
multicultural education and extend to her sincere best wishes for
continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. McCain as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
